Bright Spots

Goblet Low Countries or England, unknown glassblowers, engraving Frans Greenwood (1680-1763), The Hague, 1746/1747

This small presentation will combine the work of pointillists like Toorop, Signac and Van Rysselberghe with that of 18th-century glass engravers Greenwood, Wolff and Schoumans and 17th-century ceramics in the style of painter Frederik van Frijtom. All these artists used dots to create innovative visual effects in various materials and at various times. Applying light spots of paint or using less pressure in the engraving process, they were able to create light and shade in their compositions. Bright Spots will highlight their work in a surprising combination of painting and decorative arts.
