Kunstmuseum Den Haag has a treasure chamber of over 160.000 pieces of art. Here we work on making the highlights from this collection available online.
During the second half of the 19th century, foreign artists flocked to the Netherlands. Favourite subjects were the Dutch fishing villages and their picturesque inhabitants, but the cities, provincial areas and bulb fields were also popular destinations. This exhibition includes works by famous painters like Max Liebermann, Claude Monet and Paul Signac, but also by lesser-known artists such as Georg Hering, Henri Bource and George Hitchcock. It coincides with the appearance of a Dutch-language book on the same subject by Hans Kraan.
