Kites for Peace

Let your message take flight around the world

Leading up to the International Day of Peace (21 September), Hope Box Piece for World Peace will take over the Garden Hall of Kunstmuseum Den Haag on Saturday, 19 September. Through art, music, poetry and dance, the organisation draws attention to the importance of world peace.

Between 12:00 and 17:00, artists Aleksandra TKV Petkovic (Belgrade) and Fio Silva (Buenos Aires) will paint two large kites, which will become part of the Kites of Freedom and Solidarity collection: kites as works of art and symbols of peace. Visitors are invited to leave their own personal message for peace on a kite as well.

From 15:30 onwards, a brass quintet from the Residentie Orkest will perform a selection of special pieces dedicated to freedom, peace and remembrance. The programme will also feature a dance performance by Edoardo Chirico of the Ukrainian International Ballet, as well as spoken word performances by Sumea Terbunja (Mitrovica) and Alina Bielun (Kyiv).

Hope Box

Hope Box (HBX) is an international art initiative founded by artist Rienke Enghardt in 1991. What began as a single project has evolved into an open and inclusive approach that brings together art, travel, performance, and communication. Artists from diverse countries voluntarily join forces to present a more colourful, just, and positive vision of reality.
