Ever since the late sixties, when the first Minimal Art exhibition and the first Sol LeWitt retrospective were held in The Hague, the Gemeentemuseum has had a special relationship with this leading figure of the Minimal Art school. One of the most striking features of Minimal Art is the serial approach and it is hardly surprising that Sol LeWitt has made such extensive use of photographic techniques, given that they are so ideally suited to the production of serial works. This exhibition will concentrate on this aspect of his artistic oeuvre.
