Welcome to our Collection Online. This portal gives you digital access to one of the finest and most extensive international art collections in the Netherlands. It comprises a total of over 150,000 objects and works of art – fine art, photography, decorative arts, fashion and musical instruments – assembled with passion and dedication by a host of collectors and curators over the past 100 years. The collection is the heart and soul of the museum. It is the basis for all our work and inspires us every day in all that we do.
The collection of the Kunstmuseum Den Haag is not encyclopaedic. It is shaped by a number of particular core areas or ‘sub-collections’. These include, for example, the work of Piet Mondrian, De Stijl, Impressionism, Expressionism, Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Hague Silver, Dutch Delftware, Dutch and foreign fashion designers, and the international fashion houses. The Collection Online allows you to browse through a selection of items from the main core areas. In addition, you can search in the usual way by artist, medium, period or movement, etc. But you can even, for example, select on the basis of colour.
The Collection Online is a way of providing people everywhere with visual access to our collection. It is also a work in progress. Every week we add new artworks to the Collection Online database. The aim is to make the collection visually accessible to everyone. A collection that belongs to us all!
