Extremadura: Fuente de Cantos

Fuente de Cantos, een stad in het Spaanse Extremadura, is de geboorteplaats van de 17de-eeuwse schilder Francisco de Zubarán. In 1958 reisde Wolf Vostell naar Guadalupe in Spanje om daar schilderijen te bestuderen van Zubarán, een schilder die hij bewonderde en wiens schilderijen hij vaak citeerde in zijn eigen werk. In Guadalupe ontmoette hij zijn toekomstige vrouw, Mercedes Guardado, met wie hij een jaar later in Cáceres trouwde. Na het huwelijk keerde hij met zijn vrouw terug naar Keulen. In 1976 stichtte hij in Malpartida de Cáceres een museum voor zijn eigen werk.

Fuente de Cantos, a town in the Spanish Extremadura, is the birthplace of 17th century painter Francisco de Zubarán. In 1958, Wolf Vostell travelled to Guadalupe, Spain, to study paintings by Zubarán, a painter he admired and whose paintings he often quoted in his own work. In Guadalupe, he met his future wife, Mercedes Guardado, who he married in Cáaceres the following year. After the wedding he moved back to Cologne with his wife. In 1976 he set up a museum of his own work in Malpartida de Caáceres.
